Playing guitar alone can be fun for a time, but playing with friends is priceless and the best way to grow, both as a player and as a person. If you’re a parent searching for guitar music lessons for your child, look no further than The Music Box, Tampa Florida’s premier music school.
The Music Box was founded to give kids, teens, and beginner musicians access to knowledge, tools, and groups of like-minded individuals their age to enjoy their musical journeys in a friendly atmosphere.
The Music Box Educating Method
Your child got bored of traditionally-minded lessons laser-focused on music theory, and you feel like you’re wasting money while little progress is made with that new instructor who’s a bit too invested in ensuring your child has a fun time.
What sets The Music Box apart from other music lesson providers in Florida is that our educating method is equally entertaining and edifying.
As classically trained professionals who’ve played in bars, venues, and arenas across the country and beyond, our coaches took the best from traditionally-oriented music systems and made sure kids and beginner musicians can learn from their experiences in a true R&R fashion.
We’re not here to drill all 4017 chords into our students’ brains, and we’re certainly not a rec center. The Music Box is a place where we transform bedroom guitarists into rock and roll legends, and if you want to find out how we do it, stick with us as we dissect our method.
Experienced Road Dogs Form Our Core Coaching Squad
Thousands of music instructors and professors have spent decades buried in books before they started holding classes, which left them with little time to be in actual rock bands. Our music coaches have spent more time on the road than they did at home or anywhere else, which allows them to impart first-hand knowledge and experience.
We are teaching kids and beginners what it’s like to be in a band, play music in live venues, record authored tunes, and use the skills we teach as tools to reach their goals.
Everyone Learns at Their Pace
Some kids can’t wait to learn the ins and outs of the guitar while others may take a while to absorb all this new information. Our coaches have decades of combined experience teaching children how to play guitar and are well aware of the fact that allowing each student to learn at a comfortable pace is the key to success.
It is for this very reason that The Music Box has separate groups for children, teens, and adults. Some people work full-time and can’t find too much time to practice and keep up with the curriculum; some children need more time to work on their grades, and we fully respect that.
Upon enrollment, our students will be able to get in touch with their coaches online for extra lessons if they want to pick up the pace. Most importantly, we will never force our students to commit more time than they can afford. Our primary mission is to help each student become the master of the guitar, not to hinder their process.
Covering Our Students’ Favorite Songs
Unless our students explicitly ask our coaches to show them how schoolbook songs, such as Beethoven’s Fur Elise or Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, are performed, they won’t be a part of the curriculum.
One of the first things any child wants to learn when they enter a music school is to play their favorite song. Whether it be a famous pop tune like Wonderwall or an iconic rock song like Brick in the Wall, our educators will first play these songs for the class before showing them the chords and riffs.
Simplified Music Theory
Music theory is, for most children, very similar to math. It is complicated, dull, and even the simplest of lessons may take forever to memorize. The Music Box coaches have found a way to make music theory simple and fun. By “hiding” lessons in songs and real-life stories, kids are relating to this topic and learning faster.
Chords are considerably more fun to learn when children are given examples of the ones used in their favorite songs. Scales aren’t as boring when the child knows their favorite artists are using them in most albums.
When it comes to rhythm, our coaches won’t bombard their students with difficult examples of odd time signatures and unorthodox patterns – they will play King Crimson and Rush instead.
The Stage is Ready for Rocking Out
The final step in transitioning from a bedroom guitarist to a full-fledged rock & roll star is playing a live gig in front of a live crowd. Your child won’t have to wait years before they could become a part of a band and get a chance to perform – we’ve already covered it.
Once the main course of lessons is finished and our students know how to efficiently use their gear, we’ll set them up in a band of students they’ve been learning with, and a brand-new rock band will be formed.
A couple of practice gigs with their coach, and they’ll be ready to shine on the stage, and you’re more than welcome to witness how legends are born. Your child will play in a highly controlled environment with friends and other The Music Box students while you, other parents, and the rest of our crew will be the crowd cheering them on.
While Teachers Teach, The Music Box Coaches Give Students Undivided Attention
What separates our establishment is not a comprehensive curriculum or the best music gear you’ll find on the market. Even though we boast both of these elements, the pride and joy of The Music Box is our unique approach to coaching.
Music teachers have a set path they follow and are often too focused on the object of the lessons rather than the subjects learning from them – the students.
The Music Box coaches are fully committed to understanding what each of our students wants, guiding them on their musical path, and helping them learn what they want to learn rather. The undivided attention of our coaches means that we will always have time for any questions or problems our students are faced with, whether they be personal or related to music.
