Is a gorgeous voice necessary to become a professional singer? It can certainly help, but it is not as much of a prerequisite as proper training. Raw talent can only help so much, but without proper guidance, singers aspiring to make a name for themselves in the music industry will eventually hit a wall.
We are The Music Box, the premier provider of singing lessons in Tampa, Florida. We’d like to extend a warm invitation to beginner singers and parents who want their children to study under highly professional vocal coaches. To help you understand how we work, let us break down The Music Box teaching method.
Well-Rounded Singing Education
At The Music Box, our vocal coaches touch on all the important elements, including the basics of music theory, how to collaborate with other musicians/singers, how to perform live & interact with bandmates, and much more.
We want our students to decide what their path will be instead of programming them to be competent in one specific style or genre. Many people who are into pop music have found a new love for rock, jazz, and classical music after a couple of lessons at The Music Box.
As we age, our tastes develop and often branch out in unexpected ways. The Music Box coaches are here to give each student an opportunity to acquire new and refine existing skills so that they can thrive wherever their road may take them.
Music Theory Made Easy
After decades of teaching music, our coaches have noticed a pattern – the majority of kids, teens, and even adults find music theory too complex, too boring, or both. Understanding basic singing techniques requires an elementary understanding of music theory, not to mention that it can greatly help beginners reach the next level and later their desired goals as professionals.
Our vocal coaches want The Music Box students to have fun, but they also want them to thrive as singers. That’s why we’ve simplified our music theory lessons; all of the fundamentals of music theory are an integral part of our curriculum, but our coaches teach them through real-life examples so that students can connect to the subject matter on a deeper level.
Nurturing the Voice
Over time, our voices not only develop but transform as well. All professional singers invest a lot of time into ensuring their vocal health is in pristine condition, knowing that their chosen instrument is literally a part of their body.
At The Music Box, we understand the need to keep the voice healthy, and we go above and beyond to impart our knowledge to each student. From recommending what foods to prioritize (and avoid) to tips on lessening the stress on the diaphragm to proper breathing techniques, our vocal coaches are teaching kids not only how to sing but how to ensure their voice remains healthy in the long term.
All our vocal lessons begin with warm-ups, and we strive to drill all of our students to properly prepare before singing even when they leave The Music Box. While music is important, personal health always takes priority.
We Teach All Styles and Cover All Music Genres
You never know when inspiration will hit. Most singers have decided to answer the call to become professionals after being starstruck by another singer. Whether it be after seeing a powerful performance live or hearing a good song on the radio, that one voice that inspires us the most becomes the hero we look up to.
Many of our students come to learn how to sing a specific song, such as Wonderwall by Oasis, or Detroit Love City by KISS. After a couple of lessons and hearing other children sing their favorite songs, the sonic horizons of our students expand and they want to learn more about other genres.
Regardless of whether you’re enrolling in The Music Box to become a better frontman in your rock band, learn the chops to sing backing vocals in a choir, or want to be a professional session singer, we’ll teach you how to become an expert in your desired singing style.
Groups Comprised of Peers
Singing in front of strangers is a mental block that countless people have. Even though that is perfectly normal, singers cannot reach the next level and progress in their profession before this barricade has been gapped.
To ensure all of our students feel comfortable, we are deliberately making learning groups where we put students that are of similar age. This way, they’ll make new friends more quickly and get rid of the mental blockades that may be hindering their progress.
The best time to start taking singing lessons is as early as 4 years old. Children can benefit the most from professional vocal coaching since they have more time and energy to commit to music lessons. Additionally, meeting new similarly-aged singers will help them develop a range of social skills.
More Than Vocal Coaches
Our vocal coaches have decades of combined experience teaching children aged 4 and above how to become singers.
Unlike many online music lessons and schools that only care about filling up unoccupied slots and seats, The Music Box prides itself on having competent and qualified staff that excels in teaching kids not just how to become better singers but how to become better people as well.
We organize our lessons in a friendly atmosphere where students are first and foremost friends who are supporting and helping each other. We foster these budding relationships and want to ensure that our students grow in all fields.
